The next generation CAMECA NanoSIMS-HR

Aurélien Thomen will review the key technological advances of the NanoSIMS-HR introduced in 2024 as an upgrade to the
NanoSIMS 50L, among which:
- Imaging: Enhanced Cs+ source for ≤30 nm resolution,
- Depth Profiling: 16 keV to 2 keV primary beam energy for 12 nm/dec resolution,
- Sample Handling: Automatic introduction, ultra precision sample stage for remote operation and fast acquisiton,
- Fluid Inclusion Imaging: Cold stage for isotopic analysis.
A special focus will be made on recent analysis of geological fluid inclusions using our cold stage technology: a cold stage and sample-holders to cool samples to -140°C, freezing fluids for analysis as solid material in the SIMS vacuum chamber. Aqueous inclusions from geological materials have been analyzed for elemental and isotopic compositions, with precise D/H and 18O/16O ratio measurements in ~4 µm fluid inclusions from quartz samples.
