The analyzed Limburgite samples were extracted from the Kaiserstuhl, a range of hills (Germany), with a long volcanic history linked to the subsidence of the Rhine rift. Among the numerous igneous rocks released there during the Tertiary, limburgite presents numerous cm-sized clinopyroxene crystals. Mg, Fe, Si and Ti X-ray maps acquired at 15kV and 100nA reveal concentric growth zoning as well as hourglass shaped twinning.
