A new CAMECA EPMA at Pennsylvania State University
CAMECA is very pleased to announce the sale of our SXFive model EPMA to The Pennsylvania State University in State College Penn. USA.

Prof. Maureen Feineman as leader of the EPMA project (one of approximately six Geo based projects) worked with a focused team to evaluate the best solution to the analytical demands of scientists and the university-wide user base from Geo Phys, ESM, IME, EE, Chem, etc. and external users from industry, government, and other academic institutions.

The newly acquired SXFive EPMA will find its home in the new state-of-the-art Millennium Building, Materials Research Institute’s Materials Characterization Facility, part of the larger Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment. It will be placed in one of many labs that house various characterization instruments available to researchers and departments on campus as well as external users and will have its focus on Geoscience applications – mineralogy, petrology, volcanology, age-dating, uncommon/challenging trace element studies. However, the extremely versatile configuration of the CAMECA SXFive Electron Probe Microanalyser, complementary to a multitude of new instrumentation, will be ideally poised to address innovative materials applications that the Institute promotes: Earth and Environmental Sciences, Additive Manufacturing, Novel Thin-film Deposition and Next-Gen Device Fabrication.
