CAMECA recognized among winners of R&D 100 awards
Rob Ulfig, our Atom Probe product manager, attended the R&D 100 Awards & Technology Conference, Nov. 12-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and brought back a fourth R&D 100 award for the LEAP product line!

Widely recognized as the annual “Oscars of Invention”, the R&D 100 Awards identify and celebrate the top technology products of the year. The Local Electrode Atom Probe was already winner of the 2004, 2006 and 2008 competition. Today, CAMECA takes great pride in once more receiving the distiction for the LEAP 5000, our latest generation Local Electrode Atom Probe launched in August 2014.

4thRandD100awardWith this new prize, the LEAP is further recognized as a breakthrough research instrument whose unique capabilities enable scientists and engineers to gain new insights into the materials and processes that are used in all kinds of compelling new technologies such as faster, energy-saving computer chips, more fuel-efficient jet engines, safer next-generation nuclear reactors, brighter and cheaper LED lights, improved energy conversion and storage devices, stronger, lighter and longer lasting metal alloys, etc. Advances in these areas depend critically on the capability to characterize materials in 3D at the atomic scale, and the LEAP remains the only nanoalanytical instrument capable of delivering the 3D location and isotopic identification of up to 80% of the atoms from the volume of the specimen, and can achieve ppm sensitivity for all elements regardless of mass.
