For highly radioactive samples, a special IMS 7f has been developed.
A shielded cell is used to load the sample in the special load-lock
and control the transfer to the UHV analysis chamber. The sample exchange
is motorized. In case of problem, manual mechanical recovery of the sample
is available. Maintenance of contaminated parts can be performed in the cell
(fast exchange of the special extraction lens) or in glove boxes (slit).
The specimen transport to and from the lab is based on the laboratory
expertise and robotic technology.
