GUIDE TO CAMECA in Gennevilliers, France
29 Quai des Grésillons, 92622 Gennevilliers-Cedex, France. Tel +33(0)143346200. Fax +33(0)143346350.

From Charles de Gaulle Paris airport to CAMECA:

By taxi or car: 20-30min. Download our general map and the local map. Take the highway A1 south (Paris) then the A86 west (Nanterre, La Defense). After passing along the "Stade de France" soccer stadium (on your right), take the exit 7 toward "La Defense" business center. You are now on the road D7, along the Seine river. After 1km you will see a large "Panzani" factory on your right. Stay on the right lane of the D7 ("Gennevilliers centre, St Ouen") and do no take the underpass ("Asnieres, La Défense") but cross the street at ground level. CAMECA is located 200m after the crossing, on the right side of the river bank ("quai des Grésillons", also referenced as D7 road). On the other side of the river, slighly more toward La Defense you see  big  chimneys of the recycling factory.
Enter the plant and take the slope up toward the parking: the visitor's entrance is on the first level.

By public transportation: easy from Paris but not so convenient from the airport (changes and some walk). Among the solutions (download our local map):

- Rail and Bus: Take the RER (train/fast subway) line B (blue line), direction Paris or Robinson or Saint Remy les Chevreuses. Get off at "La Plaine -Stade de France- RER" station. Take the bus #173 direction "Porte de Clichy-Metro". Get off at "Mairie de Saint Ouen-Metro" stop. Take now:

- or also
the bus #237 direction "Parc departemental College Sisley". Get off at "Boulevard Marcel Paul" stop. Walk 5min to Cameca: cross the island on Saint-Ouen bridge toward North-West then West along the Seine bank (quai des Grésillons).
Total time: 1h5min.

- Rail only: Take the RER train/fast subway, line B (blue line, North-South), direction Paris or Robinson or Saint Remy les Chevreuses. Get off at Chatelet-Les Halles station, go up the stairs and change to Metro line 1  direction La Defense (Grand Arche). Get off at Porte Maillot station. Change to RER line C (yellow line) direction Ermont-Eaubonne. Get off at Les Gresillons station. Walk 5min to Cameca.  Total time:  1h40min...

By Air France coach from the Airport Terminal to "Porte Maillot" in Paris. Walk 3min to the nearby RER station (not the Metro station !!) "Neuilly-Porte de Maillot"on line C (yellow line). Take the RER direction Ermont-Eaubonne. Get off at Les Gresillons station. Walk 5min to Cameca. Total time: not tested yet but I would say 1h 15min.

How to travel inside Paris

To travel inside Paris, we recommend to use the subway (metro), fast subway (RER) and buses. It is very easy, fast and convenient except that it is packed at rush hours (7:30-9am and 5-7pm). You can interconnect inside and between metro and RER, but if you exit you must buy another ticket (if you have no card).
For public transportation, Paris area is divided in concentric zones. At the center, in areas 1 and 2 you can travel, interchange and access all metro stations, and RER stations inside the areas 1 and 2, with a standard metro ticket. The stop for CAMECA, "La Défense" on RER red line A, is in area 3, thus one has to purchase a dedicated 3-zone ticket (1-3) to come from Paris to La Défense.
Metro tickets are cheaper when purchased by ten (a "carnet" of 10 tickets is 10.7euros as of dec 2005).

One very practical way is to buy a card for 1day for a specified area (ex: 1-3) presently called "Mobilis". Inside the given area, it allows the use of all buses, metro, RER, trams, except the airport shuttles. You can buy them at any RER and Metro station counters, inside the stations. Take a 1-3 zone card to be able to take RER from Paris to "La Defense" (for example: 18.2 euros for 3 days as of Dec 2005).
If you want to have more days or if you want also to travel from/to airports (Orly and Roissy CdG), Versailles castle, EuroDisney, etc.., take a card called " Paris Visite" available for 1, 2, 3, or 5 days. (ex: 45.7 euros for 5days/ 5zones as of Dec 2005).
For Public transportation, you will find all explanation at http://www.ratp.fr  web site including map downloads. You can get free maps at any metro or RER station.

A few convenient hotels

We recommend to  book your hotel along the RER C line. Here are three possible hotels  that we used with satisfaction, located in Paris at the Pereire RER C (and Metro) station. It takes 10min of RER C train between Pereire station to Grésillon station.
